I'm actually now Ob1, which is similar, just a little different...
I am a wife, mother to identical twin girls, and soon to be ob/gyn resident! This is our journey of survival.

OB 2
Oh catch up... I am currently on my fourth rotation, but wanted to post about my last rotation, what is called "OB 2." During our intern years we have 6 months on Labor and delivery, during the five week rotation, you and another intern are assigned to Labor and Delivery - u. Ob 2 is on L&D Tuesday and Thursday, and in clinic Monday and Wednesday. Typical days start early, we'll say an average of 4-430, I meet up with my co intern, and we look over all the postpartum patients and divide up the list. Usually we split the list in half, one person sees the top half, the other the bottom half. We switch weekly who has top who has bottom so that you can see the same patients (continuity of care!), but the top half somehow tends to have the more complicated sicker patients (because not everyone who has a baby is healthy...or has a complicated free pregnancy....). We see our patients, write notes on them, get all the discharge stuff ready for patients going home that day, put in their orders etc... all before 7 am - that is check out with our attending, or go to conference time. At 8 am we head either to L&D or to clinic depending on where we are assigned that day. We still carry those archaic pagers, and cover our postpartum patients, and then of course any any patient that delivered that day too. 6pm is check out (except Wed which is 7pm) where we tell the night team about our patients as they will get paged on them if there are any problems. Fridays are different, as the OB 2 intern, you doing your morning rounding, then it's intern nap time as you have Friday night call. New rules state that we cannot work more then 16 consecutive hours, and when you do leave your shift, you have to be away for 10 hours. So, we need to have everything done by 8am so we can be back at 6pm. The upside is once you get home Sat morning, your are usually done until Monday (unless someone is on vacation, and then you may have to cover Sat night or Sunday day...) More time to spend with these two:
