9 Month Check Up

Last week we went in for our 9 month check-up and to get our second H1N1 vaccine. Is was nice to see the girls regular pedi, especially with well babies! I took one in their infant carriers, and the other one in an umbrella stroller. I knew the girls would want to explore, so I figured I would throw some puffs in the stroller and they could stand their eating them and keep them from crawling on the dirty floor. The plan kind of worked, but they ended up crawling on the floor anyways.

Matilda weighed in at 15 pounds 6 ozs, 26 1/2 inches long and 41 cm head circumference. Madelynn is 16 pounds 2 oz, 26 1/2 inches and 41 cm head circumference. All somewhere between the 5th and 10th percentiles.

Dr. Strong wanted to check in on their motor skills too - they're starting to use a pincher grasp (thumb and index finger to pick up instead of raking). The crawl very well. They stand up and can get back to a sitting position with ease. They even climb (yikes!). They can both stand with out holding on - Madelynn for extended periods of time! They can push a walker across the room too! We also cruise around furniture and toys. They love to bang things.

They have object permanence, knowing that just because they can't see something, it still exists (leading to a little separation anxiety).

Verbally, we just started babbling - I think they've been busy developing motor. We say mama, dada and baba. Lots of mmmmmmmmmmms. We turn around when you call our names!

And our schedule? We eat cereal in the morning - about 4 oz each. Have a morning bottle, about 6 oz, baby food for lunch, mid afternoon bottle, baby food for dinner and then a bed time bottle. We take in about 18 oz formula and 12 oz of baby food. We love puffs and graham crackers for a mid afternoon snack! The girls get a taste of whatever everyone else is eating, but not as part of their mainstay yet.

We are still working on nap/sleep schedule, but have returned to sleeping through the night, about 12 hours. Naps are usually about 10ish and 2ish now, 1-2 hours ideally (still working on naps!).

We are ahead of schedule on cuteness! Who knows what the next month will bring? Walking?!?!
